Ethics Committee Closes Investigation into Steering Committee Member Following Full Review

GSF's independent Ethics Committee (EC) has investigated concerns raised regarding rumours alleging sexual misconduct by a Steering Committee (SC) member in social media posts that were recently published and are now archived by the author.

On April 12, the SC member implicated by these rumours requested a formal investigation by the EC. Given the seriousness of the allegations, their impact on the mission, and the fact that the mission is actively underway at sea, the process was expedited. This reflects standard EC procedure during active missions, where the security and well-being of all involved require timely resolution.

The EC conducted interviews with the three women believed to be referenced in the posts. All three women denied that any sexual misconduct had occurred. No corroborating evidence was found to support the claims currently in circulation.

The EC considers this case closed. As with all EC investigations, however, it may be reopened should new evidence come to light.

How the EC works: The SC is accountable to the movement it serves. Oversight of SC members is handled independently by the Ethics Committee, a body composed of legal professionals that operates free from SC influence in all cases involving SC members. This structural separation exists precisely to ensure that accountability is never self-administered. We remain committed to the integrity of these processes, and to the collective trust they are designed to protect.
