In response to a direct call from Palestinians in Gaza, the Global Sumud Flotilla mobilized again in Spring '26, on land and at sea, with hundreds of participants, more than seventy boats, and a convoy of trucks and ambulances bound for Gaza.
The mission set out to break israel's illegal siege, deliver life-saving humanitarian aid, and confront the genocide and the complicity that enables it. The sea mission was intercepted twice, once off the coast of Greece and again around 250 nautical miles from Gaza near Cyprus, and the land mission was violently blocked in Libya. Facing the brutality of the genocidal regime up close only sharpened our resolve. We will not be deterred, and we stand with the Palestinian people in their pursuit of life, justice, and liberation.
This mission was never only about those who sailed or joined the overland convoy. It was about the millions around the world ready to say "enough is enough," people prepared to inherit the responsibility abandoned by governments and institutions, take to the streets, and demand change. That energy is now taking shape as a permanent, internationalist coalition of everyday people and delegations across more than 50 countries.
Guided by the Palestinians' steadfast struggle for liberation, we are mobilizing communities worldwide to act. Together, we rise against apartheid, racism, imperialism, colonialism, ecocide, and all systems of oppression. This moment requires action from everyone. Don't be a spectator.

The Global Sumud Flotilla is an international movement of coordinated, nonviolent action, by land, sea and across borders, working to end Israel's illegal siege on Gaza, confront the complicity that enables occupation, and stand with the Palestinian people. From ships at sea and coordinated mobilizations, to overland convoys crossing continents, each act of resistance represents everyday people's refusal to remain silent and a collective commitment to Palestinian liberation.
Sumud is an Arabic word meaning steadfastness, perseverance and resilience. It reflects the unyielding spirit of the Palestinian people to resist injustice and occupation on their ancestral land, and it drives the global solidarity of those who refuse to look away. The Global Sumud Flotilla embodies this principle through sustained, coordinated action rooted in compassion and determination.
Breaking the siege is not only about delivering aid. It's about ensuring Palestinians can access life's necessities without dependence on those who oppress them. Our goal is to establish a corridor for freedom, not charity; sovereignty, not subjugation. By challenging the siege on land and at sea, we confront the systems of control that make Gaza the world's largest open-air prison.

The flotilla delivers life-saving aid and civilian protection while also asserting Palestinians' legal right to freedom of movement, access to their coastline, and protection from collective punishment. When governments and institutions fail to uphold these obligations, civilians have both the right and responsibility to act.
Yes. The Global Sumud Flotilla is strictly nonviolent. All participants are trained in nonviolent discipline. The mission is grounded in humanitarian principles, civilian protection norms, and international law.
Participants include people from nearly every walk of life, such as: • Healthcare workers • Teachers and educators • Legal experts • Eco-builders and engineers • Unarmed civilian protectors • Humanitarian workers • Organizers, artists, and everyday people All participants commit to nonviolence, collective discipline, and working under Palestinian leadership. No. The flotilla delivers only a fraction of what Gaza requires. Its significance lies in: • Breaking the illegal siege • Creating a humanitarian corridor • Establishing a replicable model for international action • Supporting Palestinians while demanding structural change
Yes. The mission is designed to operate in partnership with Palestinian communities, professionals, and leadership, respecting local priorities and expertise. The flotilla does not replace Palestinian agency; it supports it.
