Prof Dr . Muhammed Emin Akkoyunlu

Dr. Muhammed Emin Akkoyunlu was born in Malatya, Türkiye, in 1978. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Dokuz Eylül University in 2001, specialized in chest diseases in 2008, and became a professor in 2020. He is currently head of the Department of Chest Diseases. After the 2023 earthquake that devastated southeastern Türkiye, including his hometown of Malatya, he became actively involved in humanitarian aid. The destruction of the city, and the loss of its collective memory, deeply affected him. This experience has strengthened his empathy for the people of Gaza.
