OCCUPIED PALESTINE — Following the illegal abduction of civilians in international waters by israeli Occupying Forces (iOF), the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) will host a press conference tomorrow, May 21, 2026, at 15:00 Palestine time. Speakers will provide a brief on the legal status of the 428 international activists kidnapped by the israeli occupation Navy, debrief the timeline of the interception and related abuses by the iOF, address the large-scale hunger strike launched by at least 87 detainees currently held at Ashdod Port and transit facilities and the announcement of a joint statement from European Union Parliament.
Statement from Adalah:
“Following the illegal interception of the flotilla in international waters and the illegal abduction of over 400 activists from around the world, israel is employing a criminal policy of abuse and humiliation against activists seeking to confront israel's ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people.
These events come after Adalah documented similar patterns of ill-treatment against activists in previous flotilla missions, for which israel faced zero accountability. Adalah attorneys, along with a team of dedicated volunteers, entered the port facilities in recent hours, are providing legal consultation to them, and will continue to demand their immediate and unconditional release. The international community must take urgent measures to protect the flotilla members against this brutal and illegal conduct by israeli officials.”
