Global Sumud Land Convoy Advances on Sirte
May 24, 2026 SIRTE, LIBYA — The Global Sumud Land Convoy (GSLC) is advancing toward Sirte as negotiations with East Libyan authorities for safe passage have stalled. Repeated requests for a meeting to establish arrangements for the reception and delivery of humanitarian aid, along with the specialists on board, have received no practical response. The genocide and blockade on Gaza continues and the Palestinian people cannot wait for bureaucratic absurdity to receive relief and aid.
Carrying 7 ambulances, 10 aid trucks, and over 200 participants, including experts across medicine, engineering, logistics, and humanitarian law, the convoy is proceeding peacefully toward Sirte to complete the coordination necessary to continue the mission and work alongside Palestinian leadership in the early phases of rebuilding Gaza's healthcare system and civilian infrastructure.
Every item on board is thoroughly documented. Every participant is committed to nonviolent, civilian action. Every step is taken in compliance with international law.
This convoy does not move in isolation. It follows the illegal interception of 50 Global Sumud Flotilla vessels and the brutal, unlawful detention of 328 participants, 250 nautical miles from Gaza's coast.
This mission proceeds in the face of a coordinated global effort to silence Palestine solidarity. Flotillas intercepted. Convoys blocked. Activists prosecuted. Aid workers criminalised. The pattern is consistent and deliberate. The Global Sumud Land Convoy recognizes it, names it, and moves forward. Steadfastness is the only moral response to systematic repression.
The GSLC calls for vigilance against retaliation targeting participants, organizers, medical personnel, and humanitarian workers, and urges international human rights bodies, legal institutions, and free media to monitor developments, document obstruction, and defend unimpeded humanitarian access. The Palestinian people's right to receive aid and to control their own borders is not a request. It is a legal and moral obligation on every state and institution that claims to stand for human rights.
